Capt. A.K. Bansal
Chairman & Managing Director
Capt Bansal became the youngest Master in the Indian Merchant Navy at age 25. He then went on to acquire an L.L.B (Hons) from University College, University of London. He became a Barrister at Law, of Lincoln’s Inn London. He has had a distinguished and diverse career, significantly contributing to the Indian shipping industry in various capacities. Internationally, he also assisted Governments of UAE and Oman to update their ancient maritime laws and to implement a historic road project to link them with Europe, through Qatar, Saudi Arabia & Turkey via the Istanbul Bridge. In 1988, he promoted and established IWL India Limited with Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation Limited (TIDCO), ICICI and IFCI as co promoters. He brings to IWL, a wealth of national and international experience and is an inspiration, guide and mentor to the IWL family.
Ashok Bansal co-promoted IWL in 1988, after graduating in Electrical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology (Caltech). He has led many initiatives at IWL, including the introduction of Pypkote tapes, diversification into emulsions and construction chemicals. He expanded manufacturing facilities at IWL’s Chennai plant and set up three greenfield plants across the country.
Capt. Satya Mitra Bagga
Capt Satya Mitra Bagga started his career as a sailor with V ships where he spent close to 15 yrs sailing across the globe. He later came ashore and became the Managing Director of Maersk Training in India and Malaysia for ten years plus. He joined IWL as head of sales for North and West before becoming the CEO. Satya likes to read and travel in his spare time. He is settled in Chennai with his wife and two lovely daughters.
Head – New Business & Opportunities
A graduate of Civil Engineering from A C Tech, he holds a post graduate diploma in Marketing from IIM, Kolkata. In his long tenure with IWL, he had established the brands of Pypkote, Hyperplas and Emulsions and executed many prestigious projects for IWL.
Head – Sales (North & West)
Ajay Behl joined IWL India in 2020 to lead the North and West India Sales & Strategy. He is an entrepreneurial and general management leader with 20+ years of commercial and operations experience. Having successfully driven business growth and market share for various organizations, Ajay specializes in creating winning go-to-market strategies, building effective customer experience programs and driving operational excellence. Settled in Chennai with his family since last 7 years, Ajay is passionate about traveling & exploring new destinations and disciplined about his fitness routine.
Head – Sales (South)
K. Sundar joined IWL in mid-2021 to lead the South India Sales & Strategy. He has more than 17 years of experience in Sales, Business Development & Key Account Management with leading brands of Building Materials. A Chemical Engineering graduate from Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT), Mumbai, he holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from ICFAI Business School. Sundar is customer centric, systematic, people & process oriented person who strongly believes in his team. He is passionate about food, travel & business. Sundar likes to read, walk & think in his spare time. He is settled in Chennai with his wife & 1 lovely daughter.
